Help Jacky Overcome Mental Health Challenges and Return to NZ

My partner is an international student from China, and we met here in New Zealand. What started as a simple connection became something very meaningful to both of us.

He worked hard to build a future here. After completing his foundation studies, he received an offer from Massey University.

But just before everything fell into place, everything changed.

His father was suddenly diagnosed with a serious heart condition and urgently needed bypass surgery. Thankfully, it was successful, but he now requires ongoing unfunded medication costing around NZD $600 per month.

His father was the main source of income, and the surgery used up almost all of their savings. Since then, the family has struggled financially.

With no income, my partner had no choice but to return to China.

This has been overwhelming — not only pausing his education, but also coping with his father’s health and financial pressure. Over time, he has developed depression and anxiety, along with significant physical symptoms.

Because he is no longer a student in China, he has no public healthcare support and must pay for treatment privately. His savings are not enough for long-term care.

His mother has started working, but the income is limited, and the family is still struggling.

As someone who cares deeply about him, it is incredibly difficult to watch him go through this alone.
